Market Gardeners Ltd, trading as MG Marketing (MG), announced today that it has strengthened its export capability through the acquisition of an additional stake in Te Mata Exports 2012 Ltd (Te Mata Exports).

Established in 2000, Hawkes Bay based Te Mata Exports is a significant exporter of premium produce to key markets in Europe, North America, Middle East, Australia and Asia. MG became a 50% shareholder in 2012 with the new deal boosting the grower
co-operatives stake to 74%.

Speaking about the announcement, MG CEO, Peter Hendry, said, “The investment marks a further step forward for MG.”

“Exporting produce is a key part of our overall business strategy and this deal highlights our commitment to growing our already strong presence.”

“Te Mata Exports is an established export business with vast expertise, experience and networks – this deal strengthens our partnership and having a 74% stake provides our co-operative with further opportunities to expand and grow our export business.”

“Having a successful subsidiary is not only good for suppliers providing produce for export, it strengthens our overall business, and profitability, which benefits all of our grower-shareholders.”
